"The producer and I fell in love with the track, which had already been released. After getting in touch with Africa Express, making a music video wasn’t necessarily on the table, as the song had already come out as a live performance that really stood on its own. However, I had this idea of a human musical score that I felt suited the music perfectly. Particularly because Luisa is a trans person, I thought there was something poetic about representing her gender identity not through bodies, but through the range of her voice, which can go both incredibly low and incredibly high. The idea was simple: one body for the low register (bass clef) and another for the high register (treble clef). Initially, I wanted the piece to end on an alto clef, but that didn't end up happening. We eventually convinced the band, secured funding from the CNC (French National Centre for Cinema), and were able to shoot the video. It turned out to be one of the most beautiful experiences I’ve had on set, especially in terms of creative freedom, storytelling, and artistic expression." Melchior Leroux, director
