"For the main performance scenes, we used Alexa 35 with Zeiss Super Speeds. No special filters were used. To balance the exposure between the natural ambient light and the burning car, we limited the shoot to the dusk time.
The hardest part was the scene where the car goes up in flames and rises into the sky. Once you set a car on fire, it burns fast, so we had to move quickly and shoot the band’s lip-sync at a real pace. We only got two takes.
For the red character, we didn’t plan it out beforehand. We decided to create the look with makeup on the day, and then everyone on set started throwing out ideas. We just followed the energy in the moment and shot it pretty instinctively." Hideto Hotta, director
