"Bad Moons" American Football

"The sheer amount of storylines in this video was our biggest challenge. This project is not about a specific friend group or characters, It's about themes and behaviours that arise in a multitude of ways throughout generations. In order to make this concept actually resonate & stay fresh for 8 minutes, we had to fit an insane amount of scenes fit in our schedule. When you're entering your teenage years, you often feel like you want to hide and be forgotten, while also yearning to be seen & loved. It's a very confusing & uncomfortable period. We felt that infrared cinematography would hide our characters in plain sight, transmitting visually this upsetting and restless feeling. Getting used to this new and conter-intuitive way of lighting took a while. On top of that, a good amount of scenes were shot both in IR and in color, demanding two totally different set-ups and narrative languages. You almost have to re-wire your brain every time you switch cameras. It was also -30 degrees Celsius in Sudbury, northern Ontario." Alex Acy & Remi Belleville, directors
