"I think one of the most challenging parts about this project was to get decent speed for both parties while doing the follow-cams. As you can see in the little BTS doc the struggle was real when we did our first attempts but we figured it all out in the end (god bless haha).
I do a lot of follow-cam work on skis—handling gimbal movement and focus at the same time while riding—but I was curious how it would feel on sand. It was weird at first, because it feels like the surface is constantly moving under your feet.
After a few takes, though, it actually turned out to be much smoother on sand than on snow, since you don’t have to deal with bumps and other obstacles getting in your way while riding downhill and watching the monitor.
Even though we had the Komodo covered in plastic, you definitely don’t want to crash, because that would obviously be a disaster for the equipment in every possible way." Philipp Kaar, cinematographer
