UNCOMMON’s idea for this Omoda spot was “British weather in a nutshell,” and we took that quite literally. We threw every element at the car and completely trashed it.
The first challenge was to do it for real, as always. We shot in Bulgaria with a big crew and a great SFX team who helped us shape the smoke, rain, snow, and even a giant wave crashing straight into the windshield. The second challenge was to create a cool and original “weather test lab” without falling into the usual futuristic clichés. We came up with the idea of blending the testing aesthetic with elements borrowed from the world of sound engineering, creating a hybrid between a giant sound stage and a wind tunnel." - Bleu Désert, director & editor
