"Shooting with athletes is always tricky in terms of matching schedules. For this project we were forced to shoot quite late in the season to make it all work.
Originally we only had one single day with the athlete, but we were able to stretch that into one and a half day. We shot at 3800 meters in Chalmonix, France. Shooting at that altitude obviously creates all sorts of practical and logistical challenges. I have a lot of experience shooting in the mountains of Norway. The producer, Mona (and Hillton) are the best in the business when it comes to nurturing creativity in hostile surroundings. We were able to assemble a great team for this.
Patrick (DP and I had a pretty good shortlist, but I suspected that we would have to throw that out (as usual) and go with the flow of the mountains. The day of the shoot the weather was complete shit so we had to throw the plan away at the parking lot. " Niels Windfeldt, director
